Youth Group Classes and Activities
UU Church of Sarasota

as of December 4, 2019 (subject to change)

12/1/2019:  No Class-  Youth are welcome to join their parents in the Service or help with the Elementary class

12/7/2019:  Intergenerational Event- Tree Trimming Potluck.- 5:30-8:30pm.

12/8/2019:  The Rituals of Christianity.   The youth will be learning about  early Christianity and the rituals/myths that developed and were incorporated into the Christian faith.  A fun game with a prize will be part of the class lesson too. 

12/15/2019:  Breaking Away:  The Youth will be learning about how Protestant denominations broke away from the Orthodox churches and how they developed different cultures and rituals including information on African American churches.  Will have guest speakers to answer questions and help in the fun "Go Fish" game Protestant style. 

12/22/2019:  Prepare for Xmas Eve Service-  All Ages-  The Children and Youth will make costumes/props/ and practice for the Xmas Eve Service

12/29/2019:  Intergenerational Kwaanza Service-  The Children will participate and stay in the Service with their parents.

1/5/2020: Celebrating Epiphany- The children and youth will have a combined class and will learn about the twelve days of Christmas and the Feast of Epiphany.  The art project will be making geometric stars and there will also be a game of "Find the Baby Jesus"

1/12/2020: Exploring Roman Catholicism with a guest- The Youth will explore Catholicism with a guest from a local church.

1/19/2020:  Racism and Religion: Youth will learn about how Racism is impacted by Religion.

1/26/2020: Religious music:  Youth will explore how music impacts the worship service.

2/2/2020: Visiting a Roman Catholic Church for Mass- Youth will visit a local Church for Mass

2/9/2020:  The African American Church- exploring the African American Church service with a guest.

2/16/2020: Visiting an African American Church- The youth will visit an African American Church

2/23/2020: Intergrating the African American Church- The youth will be integrating their visit to the African American Church and its culture to UU values.

3/1/2020: Pancake Breakfast- All children will help set-up and prepare for the Pancake Breakfast to be served in-between the 2 services from 10:45-11:45​
​
