We volunteer and support a variety of programs.

All Faiths Food Bank
Weekly food donations at our church, sorting food at AFFB for local pantries, volunteering at various school and mobile pantries and the Sprout mobile farm markets, and assist with the Backpack Program at the All Faiths Food Bank facility each month.

We volunteer, fund and sponsor various events to support gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth.

Americans United for Separation of Church and State, Manatee-Sarasota Chapter
Members support AU national and participate in local events. The local chapter utilizes the church campus for meetings, educational events and films.

Bethesda House 
We volunteer each week in the pantry, clothing closet and kitchen at this day center for persons with AIDS, HIV positive persons, their caregivers, friends and guests, providing compassion, dignity and respect. Besides financial support, every Sunday we collect food and
                                 deliver it Monday morning.

Children First
We volunteer and raise funds for Children First, a private, charitable, non-profit organization that serves over 600 of Sarasota County’s most vulnerable children, birth to five years of age, and their families.

Children's Guardian Fund
We volunteer with and support the Children's Guardian Fund which supports children in foster care and the court system with Guardian Ad Litem and Next Step mentoring services.

Coalition of Immokalee Workers
We support and march with the CIW to advocate and educate about issues concerning safe working conditions, fair wages and discrimination. CIW conducts workshops at our church. Student internships are available three times/year: April 15, August 15, November 15. For more information...

In partnership with the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee, our church is a quick responder to local, national and international disasters.

We advocate and educate about issues concerning safe working conditions, fair wages and discrimination.

Gulf Coast Affirming Network (GAIN)
We are a member of this group of churches and synagogues that work together to welcome and support members of the LGBTQI community and host meetings and services.

Genesis Health Services
We provide professional, clerical and financial support to this medical, dental and mental health services center which serves the working poor and uninsured population of Sarasota's Newtown community.

Green Sanctuary
As a UUA certified Green Sanctuary Congregation we encourage lifestyle changes and community action on environmental issues. Recently we supported the successful Water and Land Conservation Amendment in Florida and established the Commit2Respond climate justice project at the church.

Habitat for Humanity
We were a lead congregation in sponsoring a Habitat house through the Gulfcoast Affirming Interfaith Network, and our members have supported other Habitat building projects.

Interweave, Sarasota Chapter
Committed to reducing prejudice against the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender communities, Interweave provides education, promotes friendship, political awareness, and fosters opportunities to increase understanding and acceptance among people of different sexual orientations. Jefferson Center of Sarasota
In the 1960s our church established this independent living center for low income seniors located on the corner of 10th Street and US 41. The Jefferson Center is self-supporting and not subsidized by public funds. Members of our church serve on the Board of Trustees.

Literacy Council of Sarasota
We recruit volunteers to teach one-on-one and tutor small groups to enable adults to acquire reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension skills to meet the demands of daily life, to improve their potential for fulfilling employment, and to enhance the quality of life for themselves and their families.​

We provide financial support and volunteers to prepare and provide hot nutritious meals to people in need due to illness, injury or income.

National Religious Campaign Against Torture
NRCAT has participated in our Free Thinkers and Forum programs, as well as programs sponsored by the Social Justice Committee.  We raise funds and distribute educational materials.

Newtown Nation and Newtown Nation Farmers Market
UU Sarasota is deeply committed to being a radically inclusive, diverse and just community and we are committed to eradicating racism and oppression. We support Black Lives Matter.

Peace Education & Action Center​
This is a central hub for community organizing; providing education and resources to those working to bring about positive social change and inspiring actions that support a more peaceful and just world. Our church and our Social Justice Committee members volunteer at and support many of the ongoing Peace Education & Action Center activities.

Planned Parenthood, Sarasota
Church members volunteer in the clinic and provide mailing and other office support for the local Planned Parenthood affiliate. Additionally, we participate in support rallies and annual fundraising efforts.

Resurrection House
Members volunteer at this day resource center that provides services such as showers, restrooms, laundry, counseling, medical treatment, food, clothing, veteran’s assistance, post office, and telephones to people in Sarasota County who are homeless.

Sarasota Housing Authority
We have volunteers who serve on the Sarasota Housing Authority’s Resident Interests Committee. We advocate on behalf of the low income residents and provide direct assistance when needed to prevent homelessness. Starting in 2014 we sponsor a Transition House, providing monthly rent support for a homeless family that is getting reestablished.

Suncoast Partnership to End Homelessness
We work with the Suncoast Partnership to End Homelessness, a public-private partnership seeking long term solutions to homelessness in Sarasota County.

Transition Sarasota
Members participate in this network of individuals and groups building more sustainable, just, and conscious community from the bottom up. The network shows films, has discussion groups and engages in and encourages  sustainable living practices.

Volunteers from our church provide services and administrative support at this Manatee County one-stop center that serves women, men, and children that are homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless.

We support this organization's post-secondary education programs and advocate with them for immigrant rights.

We provide volunteers, share information and support special events for this local organization that supports at-risk children.

WIN Women's Interfaith Network
WIN invites women of all ages, abilities, beliefs, cultures, faiths and races to learn about and value our similarities and differences.  Members work to eradicate stereotypes and prejudice beginning in our own communities. Several members belong to WIN and we host many events throughout the year, providing outreach and advertising.

YMCA Youth Shelter, Sarasota
Before school starts, volunteers work with congregation donations to treat children at the Y's Youth Shelter to a Back to School Day, a fun day of book shopping, bowling and a pizza a party. Excess contributions provide youth recreation activities and incentives all year long.
