Unitarian Universalists of Lakewood Ranch
Sunday Services have ended in Lakewood Ranch until further notice. All are encouraged to attend services at the UU Church of Sarasota, on Fruitville Road (the Big Church).

The Leadership Team met with Rev. Jay Wolin on October 28th to discuss the situation and the best course of action. Sunday services are not needed, at this time. However, we do envision that, at some time in the future, a progressive, liberal religious presence will be established in eastern and northern Manatee County.

The Unitarian Universalists of Lakewood Ranch have stood fast as a social group. There is clearly a social commitment among those in the community  to continue relationships. Dining out, movie night, book club, men’s groups, and other outings have contributed to valuable friendships These programs continue to be very important.

PLEASE DO look for continuing information about these groups (and others) on this website and in the Contact newsletter. (Sign up for the newsletter on our Virtual Guestbook...)

It has been a personal privilege for of all of us on the Leadership Team to have assisted in providing thought-provoking, timely and inspirational speakers and excellent musicians over these last few months.

See you in the BIG CHURCH... and in small group activities."

• WHO WE ARE: A small (fewer than 50) and growing congregation currently meeting in Lakewood Ranch. We are a spiritual, liberally minded, social community. Members are encouraged to assist in developing and defining both services and social program content. We were initiated by, and are affiliated with, the Unitarian Universalist Church of Sarasota.

• NEWCOMERS AND GUESTS: We welcome you to Unitarian Universalists of Lakewood Ranch. "Whoever you are, whomever you love and wherever you are on your spiritual journey, you are welcome here.”

• UPCOMING SERVICES: Services are held MOST Sundays at 10 a.m. at The Hyatt Place, Sarasota/Lakewood Ranch, 6021 Exchange Way, Bradenton, FL 941-748-3100. This is just East of the I-75 and University Parkway interchange. Unfortunately, at present, we must cancel on occasion - due to Hyatt practices. Whenever we do not have a Sunday Service, we encourage our members to support and attend services at the UU Church of Sarasota. Read more about upcoming services at Lakewood Ranch...

• SERVICE TOPICS: Traditional services that may be lay or minister led, non-traditional services that are lay led, such as a Water Service Ingathering, Personal Considerations of UU Principles, Solstice Recognitions, Native American topics and more.

• MUSIC: Music is very important to Unitarian Universalists and at UU of Lakewood Ranch we will continue to provide a variety of music to complement our services. We ask local musicians to come play many types of music - from classical to folk to jazz and even spiritual chants and songs of native peoples.
