Multi-faceted Music Program: We Love Our Music
|
![]() Numerous surveys of our members have shown that music is an important part of our community life. To accomplish the goal of making music a priority at our church, we have a multi-faceted Music Program:
Choir: Our choir is directed by Robert Lischetti and sings approximately every other week during the regular church year (September-June). If you like to sing we would love to hear from you. (No audition is necessary!) The choir rehearses on Thursday nights at 7:30 pm and our services are Sundays at 10:30 a.m. During the busy Winter and Spring season, we have two services, at 10:00 and 11:30 am, with the choir singing at the first service. (More details about the schedule are below.) Check out the video below by John Rutter, one of our favorite composers. Read more at our Choir page. ![]() Piano: Don Bryn—pianist, composer, and arranger—moved to Sarasota from Hawaii three years ago. He has since become passionate about teaching piano and music theory at Allegro Music Academy, and plays jazz, rock and dance music with Jennifer Leigh and The New Digs. He performs solo classical performances, vocal coaching for the Asolo Conservatory and has worked with the Anna Maria Island Concert Choir and Orchestra. Before Hawaii Don spent 15 years touring the globe, during which time he played and conducted for over 300 shows a year, including performances by Burt Bacharach, Lorna Luft, Nestor Torres, John Raitt, Jim Neighbors, and Charro, as well as Musical Directing and conducting the national revival tour of 7 Brides for 7 Brothers. Read more and hear music at DonBryn.com. See a video of Don's performance below.
Guest musicians: Professional musicians perform at approximately 25 services throughout the regular church year as part of our Music Program. Soloists are recruited and coordinated by choir director Robert Lischetti, Don DeMaio and Klaus Obermeit. Our Guest Musicians page shows who these musicians are and when they are scheduled to perform. |
Lyrics to Why We Sing
A sound of hope, a sound of peace, a sound that celebrates and speaks what we believe.
A sound of love, a sound so strong. It's amazing what is given when we share a song.
This why we sing, why we lift our voice, why we stand as one in harmony.
This is why we sing, why we life our voice. Take my hand and sing with me.
Soothe a soul, mend a heart, bring together lives that have been torn apart.
Share the joy, find a friend. It's a never-ending gift that circles back again.
Music builds a bridge, it can tear down a wall.
Music is a language that can speak to one and all!
This is why we sing.
