Abortion rights are threatened by government action in Florida.

We believe in bodily autonomy - that people have the right to control their bodies. They should be able to make informed decisions in consultation with their health care providers without governmental interference.

An "Amendment to Limit Government Interference with Abortion" has been created to address this injustice. We need your help to make this amendment Florida law. Please sign the petition below and ask anyone you know to do so as well.

Our church is a hub for collecting these petitions. We have an ample supply to be picked up or signed on site. We also collect the petitions and forward them to the petition organizers for proper submittal.

Petitions are available for pickup and return at the church library on Thursdays and Sundays from 12 noon till 2 pm. A table with these petitions will be in the courtyard during the coffee hour following our Sunday morning services.

The petition's title and description are:

Amendment to Limit Government Interference with Abortion

No law shall prohibit, penalize, delay, or restrict abortion before viability or when necessary to protect the patient’s health, as determined by the patient’s  healthcare provider. This amendment does not change the Legislature’s  constitutional authority to require notification to a parent or guardian before  a minor has an abortion.

Verifying signatures costs $0.50 per petition in Sarasota and Manatee counties. Please donate to Floridians Protecting Freedom (everyaction.com) to help offset these costs.

If you are registered to vote in Florida, you can fill out, print, and mail in your own petition form! You can also get friends and family to sign petitions. Just click this link: Floridians Protecting Freedom
