Stewardship Campaign reaches 81%
As of April 4, pledges for the year beginning April 1 total 81% of the goal. Financial pledges by members and friends determine the annual budget of the church.  If you are ready to make a financial commitment to this effort, please send in your pledge today. You can download one below. Your support is needed and appreciated.

Dear Members and Friends,

Our once-a-year stewardship campaign has begun. This year holds new  challenges, choosing a new minister among them. But first, I thank you most  warmly for your past contributions. This is a wonderfully caring congregation!  That’s why our theme this year is “We’ll Carry on Together”. We’ve been through  some rough pandemic times and we’re still offering the programs and services of  a full and mature church. But like most churches, our budget has felt the pain.

In the past we’ve relied on membership growth to increase our income and stay  ahead of inflation. That growth hasn’t happened the last two years, leaving us  with a possible $80,000 shortage in the coming year’s budget. The finance team  and the Board have looked at this shortage and suggested this alternative: if each member and friend will add $200 to last year’s pledge, we can have a balanced  budget. So, I’m asking you to look at your own budget and if you can, add $20 per  month to your last year’s pledge. That way, we’ll be financially healthy and we’ll  carry on together, as we have for 70 years. Of course, all contributions will be  gratefully received.

A year ago we said Together We Can and we did so.  Members and friends supported our church in a time of continued pandemic surprises.  We vaccinated, we boosted.  We had brief live encounters full of joy and worship.

Omicron – our world’s Greek tragedy – has shut us down physically again.

"We’ll Carry On Together" says it all.  We are more resilient than we imagined.  We’ve mastered Zoom.  The Forum presented outstanding programs.  Social justice efforts continued.  Book clubs met and other organizations continued their work.  The safety committee made hard decisions to keep us safe and healthy.  Our investment in technology has allowed us to stay in contact with members and friends wherever we are.

Most importantly, our ministerial search committee has spent countless hours bringing us closer to a new settled minister.  We’ll Carry On Together, as we have for 70 years.

A stewardship campaign is a time of asking, asking that you consider the value of our church in your life.  The value of friends, of worship, of spiritual fulfillment.  It’s not the easiest thing to ask for money, but this year the church needs you more than ever.

Thank you for your past contributions and for all you do for the church.  Every contribution is received with gratitude.

Bet Cummings, Stewardship Campaign Chair
